Here are photos taken by Roger. His first day in Ecuador means noticing things we've taken for granted.
Cakes being delivered to a store from the back of a pickup truck.
A pickup truck full of fresh fish brought up from the coast. We were being offered the catch of the day here!
This is a common sight for servicing cars, buses and trucks. No hydraulic lifts anywhere here, just concrete ramps.
Street dogs. During the day they're seen sleeping everywhere. You'd think they had been hit by a car. Nope, just dozing.
What a life!
This is called a "roof dog". In many cases families will have a dog for security and it will never, ever spend any time of it's life on the ground. It remains on the roof, always. Day and night until the end of it's life.
Some of the pioneers found us in a restaurant. They had just come from "park witnessing". Notice no neck ties or literature. It's the informal approach which makes it easier to talk to North Americans.
It wouldn't be a meal without coca-cola here.
For some reason, city workers dug two - 5 foot deep holes in the middle of the main street sidewalk these past 2 days.
After the days work, the holes were left open, no cover, no barricades, no cordoning off tape. Yet passerby including children seem to naturally know to carefully walk around the hazard and no one falls in nor gets hurt?
It's enough to drive some visitors to drink.
